Peter’s Enterprise: Break-Even Analysis (15 Marks)

Sales: 3,100 units at 325 FRW

Total Variable Costs: 425,250 FRW

Fixed Costs: 260,300 FRW

i. Unit Variable Cost (UVC)

UVC = Total Variable Costs ÷ Units Sold = 425,250 ÷ 3,100 = 137.18 FRW (4 Marks)

ii. Contribution Margin (CM per unit)

CM = Selling Price UVC = 325 137.18 = 187.82 FRW (4 Marks)

iii. Break-Even Point (Units)

BEP (units) = Fixed Costs ÷ Contribution Margin = 260,300 ÷ 187.82 1,386 units (3 Marks)

iv) Break-Even Point (Value)

BEP (value) = BEP (units) × Selling Price = 1,386 × 325 = 450,450 FRW (3 Marks)
